Barclay Farm Swim Club is a Members Only swim club located in Cherry Hill New Jersey. During our summer season beyond meeting the needs of our members, we also host a summer camp for children aged Kindergarten to 11 years old.

We are seeking responsible young adults to be Lifeguards for the 2024 swimming season. Our address is located inside the Barclay Farm neighborhood at 315 Whitemarsh Way, Cherry Hill, New Jersey 08034.
Barclay Farm Swim Club is a seasonal outdoor swimming facility that boasts a high dive, a 12ft Well deep end, lap lanes, baby pool (not the responsibility of the lifeguards), snack bar, courts for playing and plenty of grass for running. Guards need to be comfortable supervising children and adults in water 4ft to 12ft, as well as supervising the surrounding pool deck. While it is the responsibility of the lifeguard to supervise the safety of the campers near and in the water, the campers are also supervised by camp counselors.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervise swimming activities and ensure that policies, guidelines, and safety procedures are followed.
Warn swimmers of improper activities or behavior.
Administer basic First Aid, CPR and/ or rescues in the event of injury, distress or danger of drowning.
Evaluate conditions and initiate aquatic emergency action plan as needed.
Inspect pool area, equipment and rescue apparatus to ensure that they are safe and usable. Empty skimmer baskets, vacuum pool and skim pool surface.
Assist in maintaining the cleanliness of the facility (cleaning the office and bathrooms, collecting and removing trash and recycling).
Evaluate a swimmer’s ability to succeed in the band test.
Supervise and operate the front desk.
Effectively communicate with members (children and adults), campers, camp counselors, swim coaches, camp director, co-workers, and manager.
Be a positive role model.
QUALIFICATIONS
American Red Cross Lifeguarding/CPR/AED/First Aid for Professional Rescuer Certification (https://www.redcross.org/take-a-class/lifeguarding).
Age 15 .
Excellent communication skills.
Can sit for an extended period of time.
Can actively scan the pool area for an extended period of time.
Can lift and/ or help move objects that have some weight to them.
INFO/ KEY DATES
We host Swim Team Meets on some Saturdays: This will require two Lifeguards to start at 7:30am.
We host Pasta Parties for the Swim Team on Friday Nights.
We host themed activities and birthday parties for members throughout the season.
Pre Memorial Weekend: Complete employment paperwork, mandatory 2hr paid training.
Memorial Weekend (May 24th): Pool opens for members.
Post Memorial Weekend > End of School Year: The pool is open in the evenings for swim team practice ONLY 5pm - 7pm (2 lifeguards are scheduled). The pool opens for Members Friday evening through Sunday evening.
End of School Year > September 7th*: The pool opens everyday from 12pm to 8/9pm weather permitting. Summer Camp runs Monday - Friday until 4pm. The pool will be busy with kids from 12pm - 3:30ish during the week. *We will NOT be open sept 3rd - sept 5th.
PAY AND SCHEDULING
Starting pay is at least $15.25 hour.
Automatic increase in pay for returning guards.
Typically 4 > 5 hour shifts.
Guards rotate positions every 30 minutes (guard > guard > office).
When you rotate to the office you are allowed to be on your phone as long as you are engaging with members during check-in.
Flexible scheduling.
Salary : $15
