What are the responsibilities and job description for the Student Accounts Representative position at Bard College?
The Student Financial Services (SFS) Student Accounts Representative is a part-time position responsible for assisting with the day-to-day student account functions and will report directly to the Director of Student Financial Services. The successful candidate will have a high level of professionalism and confidence in customer service and be able to handle confidential student information. It is critical that the individual in this roll bring strong verbal and written communication skills, and attention to detail. They must also have the ability to multi-task and prioritize duties in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
Job Duties
- Assist with inquiries in person, on the phone and via email regarding ways to make payments, payment deadlines, status of refund checks, waiving optional charges and other student account related inquiries
- Process payments to students accounts via cash, check and wire transfers
- Assist students and families with current and delinquent student account balances
- Support students in resolving issues with their financial accounts and provides basic financial aid information when needed
- Protect the confidentiality of student records and files within Student Financial Services
- Apply college policies and procedures, federal and/or state laws and regulations regarding financial aid and cash management functions, and confidentiality regulations as needed
- Other special projects and job-related duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Prior customer service experience required; higher education experience preferred
- Associate’s degree preferred
- Competency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google; knowledge of Ellucian Banner a plus
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Organization, accuracy and keen attention to detail
- Ability to work with confidential information
- Must be able to work occasional weekends and evenings, as needed
- Must be able to occasionally lift 20 pounds

Compensation: $21-$23/hour
This salary range reflects the College's good faith and reasonable estimate of the compensation for the position at the time of the job posting. Salary decisions are dependent on several factors including but not limited to market and organizational considerations, experience, and qualifications of a selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
