Role Overview:
The Engineered Products Sales Manager leads technical sales activities across diverse applications, with a focus on engineered products. Collaborating closely with Vertical Market Leaders and Sales Representatives, this role is crucial in building and nurturing professional relationships with distributors and end users. The Sales Manager plays a key part in driving technical sales, boosting market participation, identifying and reporting industry trends, and implementing company policies, programs, and sales strategies within the responsible markets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Technical Sales Management: Oversee technical sales activities, including specification support within assigned subcategories, and manage other key accounts as assigned.
- Product Solutions Development: Collaborate with company leadership to create value-added product solutions, supporting a multi-channel sales strategy.
- Growth and Relationship Management: Identify growth opportunities and maintain existing account relationships across multiple sales channel layers.
- Market and Industry Insights: Provide insights on application requirements, forecasting, industry trends, and competitive intelligence. Assist in gathering data for market analytics.
- Innovation Engagement: Actively participate in innovation-focused NPD recommendations.
- Customer Education and Engagement: Conduct customer-based field seminars, programs, and product meetings. Attend trade shows and industry meetings.
- Strategy Enhancement: Improve current sell-through strategies through collaboration.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with Marketing, Applications Engineering, and Product Management to provide customer feedback, competitive intelligence, and product and service recommendations.
- Sales Terms and Collection: Work with the corporate credit manager to develop appropriate sales terms for each customer and assist in collections as needed.
- Sales Inquiry Processing: Handle sales inquiries and coordinate with the customer service department for order processing.
- Sales Representatives Management: Motivate, train, develop, direct, and evaluate independent sales representatives.
- Quotation and Specification Review: Perform or assist with specification reviews and quotations.
- Sales Follow-up and Forecasting: Follow up on representatives' quotations, record results in the CRM system, and forecast monthly sales.
- Business Development: Explore new business opportunities in various markets.
- Conflict Resolution: Address disputes and conflicts from customers or sales representatives.
Experience and Skills:
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree is required, ideally in Engineering, with 3-5 years of experience in direct sales, business development, sales engineering, or rep management.
- Technical Expertise: Proven ability and experience in selling, designing, or operating commercial HVAC systems.
- Collaborative Experience: Demonstrated experience working with multiple sales channels and organizations concurrently.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills with all levels of internal and external customers.
- Remote Work Capability: Ability to work from a home office and proximity to an airport to facilitate business travel.
- Industry Knowledge: Prior understanding of the role of a manufacturers' representative in the construction industry's project delivery process is advantageous.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other Microsoft Office Suite software programs.
- Customer-Focused Solutions: Ability to identify technical pain points and translate them into value-added solutions.
- Travel Flexibility: Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time.
