Accounting Manager – Full Time (Monday-Friday)
ABOUT BARD
Bard Optical’s mission is to help our patients preserve and improve the health of their eyes. Our offices are family vision centers designed to provide crucial evaluations and treatments of eye health issues for patients ranging in age from 2 to 102. Although we have 22 retail offices throughout Central Illinois, our home office and accounting department are located in Peoria.
ABOUT THE JOB AND YOU
We are currently looking for an experienced accounting professional to take a leadership role in our accounting department. This employee will report directly to the Controller and oversee the work of others in the department. Our accounting team is highly skilled and collaborative while maintaining the highest ethical and confidentiality standards.
The work involves (at least):
- Accounts Payable (AP): Oversite of vendor invoices, review payment terms, and ensure accurate coding of expenses. Ensure timely and accurate payment of all vendor accounts.
- Accounts Receivable (AR): Oversite of incoming payments, prepare and send invoices, track aging receivables, and follow up with customers on overdue payments.
- Account Reconciliation: Perform monthly and quarterly account reconciliations, ensuring that all balances are accurate, and discrepancies are resolved.
- Bank and Credit Card Reconciliations: Reconcile bank and/or credit card statements with internal accounting records, identify discrepancies, and assist in resolving any issues.
- General Ledger Maintenance: Assist in maintaining the general ledger and month-end closing activities.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare reports related to accounts payable, accounts receivable, and reconciliations as required by management.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards (GAAP).
- Sales tax: Experience with the preparation and researching changes to the filing requirements.
In addition to technical skills and the ability and willingness to provide outstanding customer service via telephone – the ideal candidate will have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize as needed.
- Advanced computer skills (Windows, Chrome, Outlook, Excel, and Word) required. Must be very comfortable in Excel and accounting software.
- Proven experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, and reconciliations.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
- Proficient in accounting software (e.g., Sage).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with other departments.
- Experience in a corporate or multi-department environment.
- 5 or more years of related work experience.
