The General Manager will plan and oversee the daily operations of the organization to ensure goals and objectives are achieved. Primarily, the General Manager manages the front-of-house staff while the Kitchen Manager and/or Executive Chef manages the kitchen staff, but they serve as the leader of the restaurant as a whole. He or she oversees all activities including customer relations and staffing to ensure efficiency and profitability. Requires significant experience in various facets of the restaurant industry or related field; and/or a degree in a related field.
General Responsibilities
- Ensures food, liquor, and labor cost goals are met.
- Handles discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy.
- Oversee that all scheduling is completed and appropriate.
- Monitor comps and daily ticket times.
- Recruit and hire new staff as needed.
- Enforce sanitary practices for food handling, general cleanliness, and maintenance of kitchen and dining areas.
- Ensure compliance with operation standards, company policies, federal/state/local laws, and ordinances.
- Responsible for ensuring consistent high-quality food preparation and service.
- Ensure positive guest service in all areas, respond to complaints and take any and all appropriate actions to turn dissatisfied guests into return guests
- Provide leadership to guide and motivate the staff
- Attend regular weekly management meetings and monthly staff meetings.
- Develop employees by providing ongoing feedback, establishing performance expectations, and conducting performance reviews.
- Oversee the Assistant G.M.(s), Bar Manager, and Kitchen Manager.
Job Qualifications
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Some college education is preferred.
Experience:
- Previous management experience is a plus.
- 3 years of serving experience is required.
- Excellent oral communication skills are required.
- Positive interpersonal skills are required.
- Must speak English fluently and be able to write in basic English.
- Must have basic knowledge of computers and Office suite.
