The Assistant General Manager is responsible for assisting with the entire business performance of the establishment, paying specific attention to the FOH staff. An Assistant GM uses past performance, market conditions, and strategic planning to forecast supply and demand. He or she coordinates all activities including customer relations and staffing to ensure efficiency and profitability. Requires significant experience in various facets of the restaurant industry or related field; and / or a degree in a related field.
General Responsibilities
Helps manage food, liquor, and labor costs.
Discipline staff appropriately according to policy and procedures.
Create and maintain the FOH staff schedule.
Prepare void reports and monitor comps daily.
Recruit and hire new staff as needed.
Maintain high standards of quality control and health and safety.
Attend regular weekly management meetings and monthly staff meetings.
Team Management General Responsibilities
The team assumes responsibility for the restaurant's day-to-day operations to ensure efficiency and profitability.
Provide guidance and implement approved changes to ensure quality Bardenay standards are met for service, food, and beverages.
Work with the restaurant group to make food and beverage menu changes and ensure that all communication between the front and back of the house is accurate.
Help to develop cost-saving strategies to increase profit and manage labor costs.
Provide training to ensure performance objectives are met.
Provide leadership and team building for staff.
Maintain a positive, friendly, upbeat atmosphere.
Investigate and resolve food quality issues and service complaints.
Requirements : Job Qualifications
Education :
High school diploma or equivalent.
Some college education is preferred.
Experience :
Previous management experience is a plus.
3 years of serving experience is required.
Excellent oral communication skills are required.
Positive interpersonal skills are required.
Must speak English fluently and be able to write in basic English.
Must have basic knowledge of computers and Office suite.
