A behavioral interventionist is a professional who assesses and addresses problematic behaviors in individuals by developing and implementing personalized intervention plans, monitor progress and ensure positive behavioral changes, typically utilizing techniques like positive reinforcement and activities.
As a Behavioral Interventionist in a skilled nursing facility, you'll work with residents exhibiting challenging behaviors, developing and implementing individualized plans to improve their well-being and quality of life. Key Responsibilities:
- Assessment and Planning:Conduct behavioral assessments to identify the function and triggers of challenging behaviors, and develop individualized behavior intervention plans (BIPs) in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
- Intervention Implementation:Implement BIPs, using evidence-based strategies and techniques, to reduce challenging behaviors and promote positive behaviors.
- Data Collection and Monitoring:Collect and analyze data on resident behavior to track progress and make adjustments to intervention plans as needed.
- Collaboration and Communication:Collaborate with nursing staff, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated care and effective communication.
- Training and Support:Provide training and support to staff on behavioral interventions and crisis prevention techniques.
- Crisis Management:Assist with de-escalation techniques and crisis intervention during behavioral emergencies.
- Documentation:Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of resident behavior, interventions, and progress.
