Summary:
The Bargersville Parks and Recreation Department is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Program Assistant. The position is a part-time, non-exempt position. Work hours will vary depending on Programs and Events being offered and time needed to prepare for them.
What you’ll do:
- Assist in planning, managing and reviewing recreation programs and events throughout the year.
- Assist in developing, planning and implementing goals and objectives for recreation programs
- Recommend and administer policies and procedures consistent with department plans
- Promote heightened awareness of parks and recreation presenting a positive image to citizens, businesses, and community visitors.
- Assist in program and event setup and teardown including but not limited to setup and tear down of tables and chairs, sports, equipment and light custodial duties.
- Assist with the coordination of volunteers at and during events and programs.
- Work with the Director of Parks and Recreation on ordering supplies and equipment.
- Operate a motor vehicle
- Direct communication with participants and vendors
- Assist with program record keeping and evaluation of programs
- Create event proposals for future events and programming
- Operate vehicles and equipment used in park events
- Complete other duties as assigned
What you bring:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and a minimum of two years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Must have and maintain a verifiable Indiana Driver’s License, a demonstrated safe driving record, and must remain insurable through the Town’s liability insurance carrier
- Must have basic knowledge of standard English grammar, spelling, punctuation, and ability to understand information from various sources to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Ability to utilize computer technology in modernizing office procedures and record keeping
- Must have a safe work record with good ethics and dependable attendance record.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative.
- Ability to interact and communicate in a positive, professional manner with team and public
- Ability to learn quickly and efficiently
- Regularly required to stand, walk, talk or hear; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; reach with hands and arms
- Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 25-50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move, with assistance more than 80 pounds with the use of personal safety equipment
