Job Summary
Barings is seeking a highly analytical & detail-oriented professional to join the Private Placements & Asset Based Finance group. The role will support portfolio management, investment verticals, client reporting, and portfolio surveillance / risk reporting. The role requires a strong focus on data ownership and an ability to effectively communicate insights from disparate and large data sources.
The individual will ensure the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of investment and portfolio data by overseeing data quality checks, reconciling discrepancies, and maintaining robust controls in support of the group. They will work closely with internal teams to establish data governance, streamline workflows, and improve reporting accuracy.
The role also plays a critical part in developing internal & client reporting. The individual will collaborate with internal teams to own and enhance the reporting process, including but not limited to automating workflows, developing and maintaining templates, responding to ad hoc requests, RFP responses, pitchbook/marketing presentation, client presentations, and investment team reports.
The ideal candidate must possess strong technical skills, including proficiency in database systems and reporting platforms to effectively execute these responsibilities. They will deliver rapid solutions and partner with Barings business partner organizations to implement tools to support data integrity, quality, and reporting requirements.

Primary Responsibilities
- Portfolio Analysis & Reporting
- Prepare regular reports and presentations for senior management and investors
- Develop dashboards and visualizations to track key portfolio trends
- Prepare and deliver ad hoc reports
- Develop and manage standardized client reporting templates, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and alignment with investment verticals, Portfolio Managers, and client expectations
- Oversee the end-to-end client reporting process, ensuring timely and efficient delivery of high-quality reports
- Support internal and external monthly reports, dashboards, and executive presentations (e.g. client, regulatory / statutory, CECL, mortgage flow & purchase pull through, lender facility testing, impairments, and watch list reporting)
- Understand technical aspects of reporting systems and tools, working closely with technical teams to define requirements and ensure solutions meeting reporting needs.
- Customization – support bespoke reporting to meet specific client preferences / objectives
- Data Management
- Work with large, complex datasets to extract actionable insights
- Enhance automation and efficiency in portfolio monitoring and reporting processes
- Work with IT and data teams to improve data integrity and systems capabilities
- Work with various internal / external partners to collect source data, on a regular basis and as needed
- Develop dashboards and reports using Power BI, excel, or direct database access
- Design and build analyses/trending/forecasting reports using tools such as Python, SQL, and Excel and Power BI
- Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets.
- Platform
- Support project and vendor build-out to advance the platform.
- Develop processes, tools, and templates to enable efficient, accurate, and standardized data analyses and related deliverables, leverages automation to greatest extent possible
- Perform recurring and ad hoc quantitative analysis of KPIs and reports
- Use reporting tools like Power BI to automate and reduce manual errors
- Drive process improvements by identifying inefficiencies and implementing solutions to enhance the platform
- Minimum of a BS/BA degree
- 5-7 years of professional experience analyzing data, and providing insights
- 3 years building reports, dashboard, and insights
- Strong technical expertise to gather data efficiently and accurately
- A strong combination of analytical skills, intellectual curiosity, and reporting acumen
- Must be proficient in MS Office with ability to quickly analyze and synthesize large volumes of data
- Proficient in excel and SQL. Python or other programming languages is a plus.
- Familiarity with asset-backed securities (ABS), mortgage-backed securities (MBS), or other structured credit products
- A proactive approach, with an ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Excellent communication skills, with ability to present insights clearly to senior stakeholders
