Barminco is currently seeking a Buyer to join the Denver, Colorado team!
This position will be responsible for purchasing goods and services for Barminco projects in Canada and the USA, administering supply agreements, developing a responsive supplier base, monitoring supplier performance, and maintaining good supplier relations.
Key Objectives
Enter purchase orders into ERP system for a range of materials and services according to the project requirements
Obtain quotations and price lists as directed by management
Maintain accurate records of the material specifications and pricing
Expedite the prompt delivery of orders
Coordinate delivery of goods with transport companies
Monitor supplier’s performance, record KPI’s, ensure delivery on time is achieved
Manage day to day relationship with suppliers and service providers
Analyze changes in material demand to aid with the inventory planning and sourcing decisions
Perform vendor research to identify and recommend beneficial purchase agreements and potential vendors
Engage with suppliers and manage onboarding and data collection processes
Meet with manager at regular intervals to discuss purchasing activities and priorities
Produce periodic and ad-hoc reports as directed by management
Ensure conduct which is consistent with Barminco’s values, policies, systems, procedures and statutory requirements
Identify and recommend productivity and cost reduction opportunities
Participate and contribute to safe working practices
Education, Qualifications and Training
Associate Degree or B.S. in Logistics, Procurement and Supply, Business Administration or related fields preferred but not required
Minimum 3 years of buying experience, candidates with mining industry experience preferred
Industry certification, such as CIPS preferred
Comprehensive understanding of the supply chain fundamentals in the mining or construction industry (demand, sourcing, logistics, transportation, warehousing, material costing)
Hands on experience and working knowledge of ERP system for purchasing and inventory management
Strong mathematical skills, including computerized calculations
Effective communication skills using the English language, in both written and verbal form
Ability to articulate procurement concepts, policies, and processes to other employees
Experience with Excel, Word, Outlook and other business software
Strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain vendor relationships
Experience in sourcing products from multiple vendors
Strict attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to use and interpret data to determine purchasing needs and perform basic inventory management tasks
Ability to work quickly and accurately whist prioritizing tasks based on business demands
Preference will be given to individuals who have experience with vendors in the U.S. and Canada
Physical Requirements
Sitting, standing and / or walking for up to 8 hour per day
Lifting of up to 25 lbs. on a semi-infrequent basis
Ability to differentiate between colors and shades
This job operates in an office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.
This is largely a sedentary role; however, time spent on the warehouse floor may also be necessary for completing certain aspects of position thus exposure to seasonally hot, cold, dry, and humid conditions, dust, noise, and other elements will occur.
