Job Title: Underground Concrete Mixer
The Opportunity:
Barminco Mining Services Ltd. has an exciting opportunity for an Underground Concrete Mixer to join our team at a project location 65 miles outside of Elko, Nevada. Reporting to the Shotcrete Supervisor, the successful candidate will be responsible for safely and efficiently operating mobile concrete transmixer (agitator) and other equipment for the completion of underground construction projects. The incumbent is expected to adhere to and maintain all company standards and perform duties to the highest levels of safe operation.
Location: 65 Miles outside of Elko, Nevada
Shift: 7-days on / 7-days off rotation
Accommodation: Charter transportation from muster point. Camp and meals provided.
Key Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate commitment to adhere to all Mine site safety rules, procedures and regulations, while ensuring the safety of others
- Operate equipment such as transmixer, ensuring equipment, hoses and pump are thoroughly cleaned properly, maintained and inspected at the beginning and end of each shift and during the shift as required
- Willingness to learn how a shotcrete pump works, various shotcrete mix designs and their impact on the pump.
- Maclean, and/or, Normet shotcrete machine experience would be a large advantage.
- Know and perform the proper methods of material preparation and mixing to consistently mix and maintain the required mixture proportions and ratios
- Assist in hydro-scaling heading prior to application of shotcrete to remove dust and loose an ensure proper shotcrete adherence.
- Responsible for proper storage, care, and accessibility of the materials, admix, chemicals etc.
- Immediately report problems/failures that may impact the team, or the company, to your Shift Supervisor
- Some infrastructure work as required; pouring concrete pads for substations or pump station, assist with construction and spraying bulk head walls or vent walls.
- Document reports detailing work performed, for example: log batches, areas sprayed and QA/QC performed (core panels sprayed, cube samples taken, slump measurements…etc)
- Practice good general housekeeping, clean and maintain equipment to a high standard.
- Maintain a valid Driver’s License; manual transmission experience required
- Understand and comply with all PPE requirements in work areas
- Other duties may be assigned by your Supervisor, as required
Qualifications:
- Minimum High School Diploma or equivalency
- Preferred; 2-3 years of underground experience
- Operate mobile mixers underground
- Perform physical labor for the set-up and tear-down of shotcrete equipment in accordance with client and company standards
- Perform other related work as assigned for underground development mining
- The ability to work both independently and within a team in a fast-paced, cross-cultural environment with high degree of professionalism and self-motivation is essential
- Proven ability to recognize and follow verbal and written instructions
- Able to effectively prioritize workload to ensure deadlines are met
- Must have good radio etiquette and strong communications skills
- Eagerness to learn and grow
Work Conditions:
- Ability to do shift camp work on a rotational basis (dayshift/nightshift), typically the rotations are 1 week on site (minimum 12-hour days), followed by 1 week off – working statutory holidays as they fall within the rotation
- While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to communicate, sit, stand, walk, climb, reach, push/pull, manipulate objects and work in awkward positions
- Duties may involve moving materials weighing up to 50 pounds
- Manual dexterity and good eye-hand coordination are required

- Noise level in the work environment is moderate to high
