Surgical First Assistant:
The RNFA serves as a vital member of the surgical team, working closely with the primary operating surgeon to ensure seamless execution of procedures. This role requires exceptional communication skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to think critically in high-pressure situations. Key responsibilities include assessing patients pre-operatively, developing a nursing care plan, and communicating post-operative information.
Requirements:
Candidates for this role must possess a graduate degree from an accredited school of nursing, with a minimum of 24 months of preoperative experience. Satisfactory completion of a State-approved RNFA program and certification in Perioperative Nursing (CNOR) are also necessary. In addition, candidates should be certified in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR-BLS).
