Perioperative Care Professional:
The RNFA plays a crucial role in the perioperative care of patients undergoing surgical procedures. Working under the direction of the primary operating surgeon, this individual uses the nursing process to formulate a plan of care and provide continuous assessment and support throughout the intra-operative phase. Key responsibilities include assessing patients pre-operatively, developing a nursing care plan, and communicating post-operative information.
Key Requirements:
Candidates for this role must possess a graduate degree from an accredited school of nursing, with a minimum of 24 months of preoperative experience. Satisfactory completion of a State-approved RNFA program and certification in Perioperative Nursing (CNOR) are also necessary. In addition, candidates should be certified in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR-BLS).
