Job Summary:
The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is responsible for performing duties independently following established and standardized procedures and methods referring questionable situations to physician, within the Neurosurgery department for the inpatient and outpatient clinic settings. The APP provides acute care through assessment, diagnosis, clinical judgment and management to restore, maintain and improve the health status of patients. In addition, the APP is responsible for reporting identified safety issues such as hazardous environments (i.e., Damaged floors/walls/ceiling tiles/unsecured areas) and medical errors.
Qualifications:
- Current Licensure as an Advanced Practice Nurse in the State of New Jersey is required
- CDS, DEA, BLS & ACLS Certifications
- RNFA Certification
- 2-3 years of inpatient, acute care, and neurosurgery experience
- Current Licensure as a Physician Assistant in the State of New Jersey is required
- CDS, DEA, BLS & ACLS Certifications
- 2-3 years of inpatient, acute care, and neurosurgery experience, collectively
- Weekends/Holiday Rotation
Required (APN/NP)
- Current Licensure as an Advanced Practice Nursing in the State of New Jersey is required.
- CDS, DEA, BLS & ACLS Certifications
- 2-3 years if inpatient, acute care, and neurosurgery experience
Required (Physician Assistant)
- Current Licensure as a Physician Assistant in the State of New Jersey is required.
- CDS, DEA, BLS & ACLS Certifications
- 2-3 years if inpatient, acute care, and neurosurgery experience
Preferred:
- First Assist surgical experience
- 3-5 years of inpatient, acute care, and neurosurgery experience

Scheduling Requirements:
- Full Time
- 40 hours
- Weekends/Holiday Rotation
- On Call rotation as see fit to department needs
Essential Functions:
- Candidate must be able to multitask and manage an acute patient load
- ICU and Floor patient rounding
- Neurosurgical bedside procedures
- Attend and participation in multidisciplinary rounds
- Covering Neurosurgical service phone for consults
- Updating patients and family regarding plans of care

- Manages time to meet the needs of the Lab.
- Possesses good working knowledge of scheduling and procedure prioritization to minimize delays and ensure completion of daily work schedule
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Physician.
- Provides appropriate patient teaching as necessary.
- Recognizes areas for improvement in divisional policies or patient care; initiates change; educate all involved in change
- Regularly communicates with nursing leadership and staff concerning patient care issues
- The APP will assist the physicians with various procedures/surgeries and assist with coordinating the case of the patient.
- The APP is responsible for assisting the Physician in the office, taking H&Ps, administering medications, performing physical exams, and participating in flow of patients thru the practice
- Thoroughly explains procedures to patients prior to testing.
