Job Overview:
As a Mental Health Associate, you will function as a care partner with the Registered Nurse to provide nursing care to a diagnostically/developmentally specific patient population. Under the Registered Nurse's supervision, the MHA will provide therapeutic interventions and treatments. The MHA may be responsible for unit support activities and clerical/administrative functions as directed.
Qualifications:
Required:
- BA/BS degree in a psychology related field
- Or 5 years of related experience in a psychiatric service setting
- BLS Certification through American Heart Association
- Must successfully complete Monmouth Medical Center clinical training orientation
- Annual BEST certification
Preferred:
- Previous experience in a psychiatric service setting
Scheduling Requirements:
- Day Shift
- Per Diem Scheduling
Essential Functions:
- Assist with procedures, examinations and consults etc., under the supervision of the RN
- Assist with admissions, discharge and/or transfer procedures
- Collecting specimens (urine, blood, throat cultures, etc.)
- Maintains ongoing observation of patients throughout the shift and reports change to the licensed staff member responsible
- Obtaining patient vital signs, weights and I&Os
- Patient intake (demographics and history)
- Performs nursing activities under the supervision of the RN
- Supervising/assisting patients with activities of daily living, encouraging appropriate behaviors
- Participates in treatment team and related care plan updates.
