Job Overview:
The Mental Health Clinician is school-based, carries a full caseload, works with the clinical team, and provides individual and group therapy. Clinical supervision is provided.
Qualifications:
Required:
- MSW, MS or MA in Counseling, Psychology or related field
Preferred:
- Bilingual in English and Spanish
- Minimum one year counseling with children/adolescents
Scheduling Requirements:
- Shift working, Monday-Friday 8:00 4:00pm each day
- Some evenings/weekends required for student activities
- FT
Essential Functions:
- Coordinates treatment planning and makes referrals, as appropriate, to outside agencies
- Develops student-specific behavior management plans and communicates to relevant school-based staff
- Implements best practice approaches, including but not limited to, services that identify and build on strengths of the student, and as applicable, the family, services that support students in their development of skills to manage situational change, and services that help students improve their daily functioning at school, home, work, and in the community
- Is available to consult with teachers and other school personnel regarding program development and/or individual case reviews
- Participates in program planning and development as it relates to school-based counseling services
- Presents topics/specific workshops within classroom settings as requested
- Provides school-based, direct, short-term mental health counseling to students and families to address, prevent, and educate about issues that impede social, emotional, academic, or physical development
- Short-term mental health counseling to include, but not limited to, addressing issues early to prevent long-term problems, improve academic performance and personal relationships, crisis intervention, situational adjustment, bullying, anger management, bereavement, depression, suicide prevention, and violence prevention counseling
- Submits timely data, documentation, and reports to program director
