This is a .70 full-time equivalent (FTE) shared position between Barnard Academy and Reading Elementary School.
Job Objective:
The primary role of the Elementary Social Emotional Learning Specialist is to support students’ social
emotional learning and well-being.
Responsibilities
-Support a culture of explicitly teaching social skills, social thinking, and use of positive discipline
and logical consequences
-Collaborate with parents, teachers, counselors, and administrators to review data and assess
student needs and develops support plans for students experiencing social-emotional challenges
- Serve on PBIS, EST, 504, and crisis teams
-Coach teachers through the planning and implementation of social thinking and collaborative
problem-solving approaches with students
-Work with students 1:1 or in small groups in de-escalation, self-regulation, collaborative
problem-solving and social thinking
-Support the implementation of district-wide initiatives relative to students’ social-emotional
wellbeing
-Facilitate professional learning experiences for faculty and staff
The salary will be based on a full-time (1.0 FTE) position. This position falls under the MVEA Collective Bargaining Agreement and is compensated according to the teacher salary grid.
MUST hold or be eligible for a valid VT Educator License with applicable endorsement.
