Job Summary :
Under the supervision of the Manager of Facilities Operations, the Electrician has responsibility for plant maintenance and operation in addition to the testing, inspecting, maintenance, installation and troubleshooting of all electrical systems for the College.
Job Description :
Duties and Responsibilities :
- Install, repair, replace and maintain electrical wiring systems and components, equipment and apparatus in or on buildings and structures in accordance with New York City Electrical Code & NFPA 70E.
- Work in conjunction with other trades on preventative maintenance and servicing of electrical equipment and systems.
- Estimate materials needed and record time and materials expended on each work order.
- Inspect and troubleshoot high and low voltage electrical circuits, communication and signals on various controls for equipment and lighting.
- Troubleshoot, identify and isolate defects in wiring, switches, circuits, motors and other electrical equipment, using appropriate testing equipment.
- Examine and test elements of electrical systems to locate faults, such as blown fuses, short circuits, broken wires, loose connections and worn motor brushes.
- Replaces faulty switches, sockets, plugs, fuses, insulators and other elements of electrical systems, fixtures and appliances.
- Knowledge of backup power and functions such as UPS systems, Transfer switches and generation function with the ability to identify faults and proper function.
- Ability to repair broken circuits; knowledge of proper wire gauges and types. Ability to run and terminate new wiring.
- Replace defective equipment parts such as gears, bushings and bearings and other related parts.
- Perform work tasks, report deficiencies, and maintain and complete daily records of labor and materials used during work tasks.
- Continually and urgently communicate with supervisor regarding any apparent operational deficiencies or system malfunctions.
- Must perform any duties assigned in an emergency as determined by management.
- Ability to interpret diagrams, blueprints and ladder diagram electrical schematics.
- Perform applicable electrical calculations.
- Perform all other related duties as assigned.

43.64 / hr regular rate - $39.28 / hr Probationary rate
The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the College's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
