The Francine A. LeFrak Foundation Center for Well-Being aspires to set the standard for well-being in higher education by integrating resources in physical, mental and financial well-being. The Center serves as a hub of programming that develops the knowledge, skills and practices necessary for well-being throughout an individual’s life — with resources that serve the entire Barnard College Community (students, alumnae, faculty, staff, and external community members).The Executive Director of the Francine A. LeFrak Foundation Center for Well-Being (LeFrak Center) provides strategic vision and day-to-day leadership to this initiative. The role is charged with bringing together cross-campus initiatives that address key components of well-being for the Barnard community. Reporting to the Vice President for Community Engagement & Lifelong Success (VP for CELS), the Executive Director oversees creation and execution of programming, manages the LeFrak Center Staff, and serves as a key convener of well-being initiatives that take place across Barnard. As a member of the CELS Senior Staff, the Executive Director provides critical input on other Division programming, and is charged with collaborating closely with Beyond Barnard, Barnard|Next, and Summer @ Barnard teams.
The LeFrak Center Executive Director has chief responsibility for maintenance of the Center strategic plan; develops evaluation tools to measure initiative effectiveness; and represents the Center to internal and external stakeholders. The role is responsible for streamlining communication of the work, programs and outcomes of the LeFrak Center on campus and outside of Barnard to assist with program replication locally and nationally.
Job Description:
Duties & Responsibilities
Manage the full- and part-time staff of the Francine A. LeFrak Foundation Center for Well-Being; identify and cultivate expertise among staff in the areas of physical, mental, and financial well-being.
Create and implement programming and evaluation tools (including, but not limited to: distinguished speaker series; multi-event series; one-off and/or specialty events and programs, etc.) in alignment with the LeFrak Center’s mission.
Oversee events and programs in the LeFrak Theater to ensure that programs align with the Center’s mission.
Collaborate closely with cross-campus stakeholders to amplify the impact of well-being programs taking place in partner offices and initiatives (including, but not limited to, Primary Care and Health Services, Human Resources, Access Barnard, Residential Life and Housing, CEI, Beyond Barnard, Barnard|Next, Alumnae Relations. Etc.).
Create opportunities and new well-being initiatives in collaboration with the faculty and Office of the Provost; coordinate with the Office of the Registrar as appropriate to assign spaces to courses.
Meet regularly and coordinate closely with Development, the Advisory Board and Corporate Council to identify philanthropic opportunities and integrate expertise into Center programs; collaborate with Development and Alumnae Relations to expand membership of Councils in support of the Center’s work.
Ensure that short- and long-term feedback, as well as revisions to programming, is responsive to the current needs of the Barnard community.
Create and manage campus-wide awareness and communications campaigns (with support of Department of Communications whenever appropriate); provide general oversight of Center’s brand, image, and voice on campus and to external stakeholders.
Hire, train, and manage student LeFrak Center Ambassadors; create developmental programs for cross-Center student staff in collaboration with full-time team members.
Create regular reports on results, successes, and opportunities for improvement.
Manage Center budget and provide general oversight of Center operations.
Pursue grants and funding opportunities that align with the mission of the LeFrak Center, in concert with Office of Development and Alumnae Relations.
Other duties as assigned.
Skills, Qualifications & Requirements:
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Experience with, and leadership in, creation of programming, with a preference for leaders in higher education.
Skills in program planning and evaluation including supervision of project management, qualitative and quantitative evaluation, and report generation.
Knowledge of the landscape of physical, mental, and financial well-being programs and initiatives.
Demonstrated leadership skills including developing others, building and maintaining relationships, influencing and managing change.
Demonstrated ability to think and act strategically.
Superior written communication skills including the ability to create content for several audiences.
Effective presentation skills
Ability to manage multiple projects from inception to completion and prioritize as needed.
Superior organizational skills: ability to handle multiple assignments and changing priorities quickly and efficiently as circumstances dictate.
Qualifications:
7 to 10 years related work experience.
3-5 years of management/leadership experience.
Program management and evaluation experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Leadership experience higher education.
Additional Information:
This job may require a presence in the office up to five times a week, including for team and full staff meetings and other times as necessitated by operational needs.
Occasional weekend and evening work depending on the needs of the Department/College
Salary Range: $125,000 - 135,000 annually
The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the College's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
