What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Cell Operator, (3rd Shift) position at Barnes Aerospace, Lansing Division?
Barnes Lansing has an exciting opportunity for a 3rd shift Production Cell Operator in our manufacturing department. The right candidate will rotate effectively within the cell to perform work to the various operations, including Receiving Inspection, CNC Machine, Hot Form, Chemical Processing, and Final Inspection activity. Operators will be responsible for quality control, ensuring that the materials are regulated through the process in a timely manner, continuous improvement, and general 6S of the area.
This position trains on 1st shift but then receives a 15% Shift Differential when moved to 3rd shift!
Core Responsibilities:
- The Production Cell Operator will conduct daily production activity within cell in support cell takt time requirements. Identify and understand daily, weekly, and monthly goal performance requirements and actual performance.
- Ensure individuals operations are on track to our daily productivity goals.
- The Production Cell Operator will complete required training related to safety, employee empowerment, quality, Standard Operating Procedures, and other training as needed.
- Drive quality and continuous improvement by participating in kaizens, pitch board meetings, gemba walks, and daily hand-offs for the off shift. Participate in reviews and corrective actions for cell non-conformances.
- All other duties as assigned in the job.
- The Production Cell Operator keeps work area and surrounding area clean and safe to meet and pass safety regulations.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of Three (3) years of a strong manufacturing background preferred.
- Must have a good general knowledge of manufacturing including Hot Form, CNC machining, and Chemical processing at an average level.
- Able and willing to be subject to 800 – 1400 degrees periodically through the day.
- Able to stand for long periods of time in a PPE suit, helmet and gloves, or other required PPE.
- Experience with a range of inspection equipment and measuring devices.
- Preferred knowledge of CNC operation.
- Possess a good mechanical background.
- General computer knowledge at an average level.
- Excellent interpersonal and time management skills.
- Preferred experience in cellular manufacturing.
- Ability to follow station planning and have a continuous improvement mindset.
- Interact and communicate in a professional and effective manner with all level employees.
- Utilize time and conduct tasks effectively.
- Ability to work in a challenging and schedule driven environment.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to perform difficult work processes.
