We are seeking a Part-Time Tax Accountant (Sales Tax). This role is responsible for communicating with state and local representatives and various departments within the company to resolve any sales tax related issues. Partner with Deloitte to file Caf, Gross Receipts and State and Local Sales and Use Tax Returns on a monthly and quarterly basis. Prepare journal entries and sales tax account reconciliations at the end of the month. Assist with state sales tax audits and internal and external audits when needed.
An employee in this position can expect a starting rate between $48 - $52 per hour, depending on experience, seniority, geographic locations, and other factors permitted by law.
This is a part-time role at 24 hours / week, based in our Westbury, NY office.
What You Do
- Assist Deloitte with the preparation and filing of sales and use tax returns and payments
- Assist Deloitte with the resolution of sales and use tax notices through written and oral communication
- Reconcile tax payments to the general ledger
- Prepare journal entries and sales tax account reconciliations at the end of the month
- Assist with state sales tax audits and internal and external audits
- Research and interpret various State and local Tax Codes, Revenue Rulings and Tax Court Cases
- Respond promptly to various State's requests
- Responsible for special projects as assigned
