Barnes Molding Solutions seeks a self-driven, knowledgeable industry expert to serve as a hot runner Applications expert in the injection molding field of high cavitation medical, pharmaceutical, packaging, and personal care markets. In this role, the Applications Engineer would specify the correct product for new and challenging applications, maintain application guidelines, provide internal and external training, and collaborate globally across regions.
Core Responsibilities:
- Support commercial team with product technology advice, hot runner layouts, and design/component specifications.
- Responsible for Application Guidelines across hot runners and controls.
- Expert product knowledge and proficiency in general engineering guidelines.
- Update and maintain Application Tools and databases.
- Guide Commercial team through quoting advanced applications outside of standard design.
- Conduct Internal and External seminars and training sessions and product launches.
- Support Customer Service department with warranty evaluation, processing advice, repair implementation, complaints, and service calls.
- Creation of case studies demonstrating product usage.
- Support R&D development with new technology and customer beta testing on site.
- Collaborate globally with other Application team members and commercial team.
- Support development of analysis tools, technical bulletins, and reporting.
Qualifications:
- High cavitation injection molding knowledge.
- Familiarity with injection molding grade polymers and rheological properties.
- General Familiarity with Injection Mold Design.
- Competence reading 3D CAD.
- Familiarity with Moldflow and reading/interpreting results.
- Must be analytical and possess a strong aptitude for detail.
- Demonstrates strong written and verbal communication and organizational skills.
- Possesses a structured-analytical way of working.
- Shows high engagement and a dynamic personality.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Plastics preferred. Relevant work experience in injection molding industry will be considered.
