Position Summary:
Teachers are responsible for supervising the education and social-emotional learning of students in the subject assigned. Our teachers are devoted to interacting with people from diverse backgrounds. As a Barnhart teacher, you will embody our design principles of Equity, Personalization, Authentic Work, and Collaborative Design in all activities and actions. The goal is to reach the academic benchmarks for the grade and subject matter by using, creating, and adapting the curriculum. Teachers create and implement daily lesson plans that will guide students to reach or exceed traditional expectations. The teacher has the skills and experience needed to build positive, collaborative relationships with students, parents, staff, fellow faculty, and administrators. The health, growth, and well-being of students are of primary concern and are a priority of this position. The teacher guides students to ensure they learn and model Barnhart virtues in their interactions with the Barnhart community. Through experience, the teacher builds an understanding of the School’s mission and methods for transforming the lives of children and helps plan both lessons and social interactions that encourage student growth.
Position Duties and Responsibilities:

- Incorporates goals, competencies, and objectives into lesson plans in ways that directly apply to the student’s life.
- Work collaboratively and communicate effectively with administration, teachers, elementary director, and specialist teachers to develop curriculum, field trips, solve problems, and special projects.
- Assess regularly to guide student learning.
- A positive role model who is excited about professional growth and exemplary at motivating and inspiring students.
- Establish acceptable rules of conduct for students in the classroom.
- Create, communicate, and effectively implement/adapt lessons and teaching methods to meet the interests, and learning styles of students to exceed learning objectives.
- Maintain regular, constructive communication with parents to support student growth and confidence
- Nurture and model a positive, respectful, creative, and welcoming classroom environment.
- Organized and careful about time management both professionally and in the classroom.
- Service-oriented and collaborative team player.
- Ability to work with professionalism, discretion, sound judgment, equity, honesty and
personal accountability at all times.
- Working with students one-on-one when necessary.
- Have knowledge and the ability to implement different learning strategies.
- Develop and implement appropriate assessments to guide instruction and encourage student success.
- Build and nurture healthy, professional relationships with parents, students, and all community members, both through interactions and emails.

Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree required, Masters preferred.
- A valid California Teaching Credential or equivalent.
- Exceptional communication skills and strong interpersonal skills are required.
- Commitment to support the Barnhart Mission and Vision.
- Bilingual in Mandarin or Spanish is a plus.
- Orton-Gillingham Certified is desired.

- All teaching positions report directly to the Head of School.

Start Date: August, 2025-26 school year
Salary: $55,000 - $70,000 based on experience
