What You’ll Be Doing:
As an Equipment Mechanic at Barnsco, you’ll be responsible for diagnosing and repairing a variety of machinery and equipment to keep our fleet in top condition. Your daily tasks will include:
- Troubleshooting & Repairing Equipment: Inspect and troubleshoot both mechanical and electrical issues for forklifts, tractors, trailers, and other heavy-duty equipment.
- Preventive Maintenance: Perform essential maintenance tasks like oil changes, lubrication, filter changes, and safety checks to keep equipment running smoothly.
- Customer Service: Help service customers with their equipment needs, offering solutions and expert guidance for repairs and maintenance.
- Road Calls & Emergency Services: Be on the front lines to provide emergency repair services and road calls when customers need assistance.
- Work Orders & Paperwork: Complete work orders, submit repair bids to the Equipment Service Manager, and ensure all paperwork is submitted on time.
- Training & Team Collaboration: Assist with training new employees, helping them develop the skills to excel in their roles.
- Effective Communication: Maintain consistent communication with the Equipment Service Manager to ensure smooth operations.
To succeed in this role, we’re looking for someone who brings a blend of mechanical skills, experience, and dedication to excellent customer service:
- Education & Experience: High School Diploma or GED and at least 2 years of hands-on construction rental/equipment maintenance experience.
- Mechanical & Electrical Skills: Solid working knowledge of basic mechanical and electrical systems, with the ability to read and understand schematics.
- Computer Skills: Basic computer skills for troubleshooting and documenting repairs.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 75 pounds, use tools effectively, and climb in and out of equipment.
- Licensing: A valid and current driver’s license is required.
- Customer-Focused: A team player with excellent communication skills and a commitment to providing outstanding service to customers and colleagues alike.
