Full Job Description:

Barnstormer Winery is looking for a weekend tasting room team member to join our staff in the wine & hospitality industry. We focus on producing high quality wines in smaller quantities and sell most of our wine from the tasting room to wine tasters, by reservation. We cater only to small groups, so our associates can enjoy interacting with our visitors on a more personal level. Tasting Room Associates are responsible for keeping the space stocked and organized, taking phone calls, pouring wines and providing an educational experience and most importantly, being a hardworking, positive contributor to our winery team.

Position Description:

Our Tasting Room Associates are responsible for pouring wines for our customers, providing educational experiences and keeping a positive, professional work ethic to match our current winery team. The ideal candidate has a positive attitude, hospitality driven, passionate about wine, and intellectually curious – always seeking to learn.

This position is responsible for delivering a high level of customer service to our customers.

Responsibilities:

• Greeting guests with a positive attitude and provide a warm and inviting tasting experience. Checking them in for their reservation.
• Selling Barnstormer wines and our wine club to existing and potential customers
• Communicate effectively and courteously with diverse clientele and our winery team members
• Process sales and wine shipments via winery Point of Sales system
• Prepare the tasting room and outdoor areas for our guests – set up tables, prepare wines and snacks, polish glasses, prepare cheese boards among other duties
• Ensure our retail store is stocked, sanitized and cleaned frequently
• Basic opening and closing duties, while reporting to upper management

Qualifications:

• Friendly, energetic, kind, and courteous, with a genuine positive attitude. You must be a team player and trust worthy!
• Some basic wine knowledge is needed, but a passion for continually learning more about wine is a must - we can and will train you about wine!
• Front of house experience is strongly preferred
• Enjoys working in a team environment that works hard and efficiently
• Thrives in a busy environment
• Able to handle changing priorities with enthusiasm and a calm demeanor
• Reliable and conscientious
• Must be able to lift 40 pounds and work extended hours on your feet
• Valid Driver's License required, as is reliable transportation
• Must be at least 21 years of age

Compensation:

Compensation ranges between $24 - $32 /hr depending on the candidate's experience. This is a combination of base pay, along with cash & credit card tips from running wine tastings. Tasting Room Associates receive pooled cash and credit card tips.

Barnstormer Winery is housed in a 170-year-old barn and first opened our tasting room doors in 2013. As a small production winery, we focus on creating high quality customer experiences for our guests to enjoy. We produce 4,000 cases of wine a year and ship to 38 states. We have a great team that is dedicated to making quality wine and providing exceptional hospitality.

Job Type: Seasonal some weekdays possible summer/fall. Weekends required. Opportunity to expand your responsibilities and job duties for the right candidate, after some time worked at the winery. Great for teacher's on summer break or retired persons passionate about wine!

Pay: $24 - $32 /hr. DOE.

Start date: Beginning May of 2025. We hope to hire a great fit for our team who wants to return each season to Barnstormer.
