Airport Ramp/Grounds Maintenance Worker

Job Overview
Barnwell County is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Airport ramp/grounds maintenance attendant to join our team. The Airport ramp/grounds maintenance attendant position entails the responsibility of maintaining the cleanliness and functionality of the airport's ramp area, including taxiways, aprons, and surrounding grounds, by performing tasks like removing debris, repairing minor damages, managing vegetation, and ensuring overall safety and compliance with aviation regulations; this often includes operating specialized equipment to maintain the designated areas around aircraft operations.

Responsibilities

• · Ramp Maintenance:

· Removing debris from taxiways, aprons, and aircraft parking positions.

· Inspecting for potential hazards like cracks, uneven surfaces, or foreign object debris (FOD).

· Performing minor repairs to ramp surfaces as needed.

· Maintaining and cleaning aircraft boarding bridges.

· Assisting with aircraft pushback and towing operations.

· Grounds Maintenance:

· Mowing and trimming grass on airport grounds

· Pruning trees and shrubs

· Maintaining landscaping features like flower beds and pathways

· Removing snow and ice from designated areas during winter

· Cleaning and maintaining drainage systems

Qualifications

• Previous experience in groundskeeping or landscape maintenance is preferred but not required.
• Familiarity with lawn care techniques including irrigation methods is advantageous.
• Ability to operate hand tools effectively; experience with power equipment is a plus.
• Knowledge of tree care practices including planting, pruning, and disease management is desirable.
• Strong physical stamina; ability to lift heavy objects and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Excellent attention to detail with a commitment to producing high-quality work.
• A valid driver's license may be required depending on job location.
