Job Description : Summary :
The person in this position will be part of an innovative geotechnical engineering team with over 90 geotechnical engineers and field geologists. Barr's geotechnical engineering team provides a wide array of services related to foundations, dams, embankments, landslides, soil-structure interaction, earth-retaining structures, excavations, and underground structures. We also offer geotechnical services for ground improvement, geotechnical modeling, instrumentation and monitoring, in-situ testing, geophysics, soil dynamics and earthquake engineering, geosynthetics, and groundwater and seepage. This position can be based in any of our U.S. offices and is open for a hybrid work arrangement. The work will involve frequent out-of-town assignments.
Key Responsibilities :
- Drilling observation
- Instrumentation installation and monitoring
- Field investigation and contractor coordination
- Geotechnical investigation cost estimate and proposal development
- Surveying
- Geotechnical construction observation
- Preparation of drilling logs, geological maps, cross-sections, and technical reports
- On-site investigation tasks such as classifying soil and rock samples, collecting samples for field screening and laboratory analysis, and field electrical resistivity testing

A hybrid work arrangement may be considered for this position. A hybrid work arrangement refers to splitting time worked between a Barr office and a home office. This position is based out of Barr's Hibbing, Minnesota, office.
Compensation :
The anticipated base salary range for this position is $69,000-$77,000 / year. This position is classified as exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). Compensation will vary based on relevant experience, education, skill level, and other compensable factors. Employees in this position may also be eligible for a discretionary cash bonus based on team and individual performance. Barr has a "no retained earnings" model and distributes all its profit to our employees through our bonus plan and ESOP.
