Job Summary:
Barr Transportation is seeking professional, safety-focused individuals to join our Baltimore County Division as School Bus Drivers. This position offers a combination of responsibilities, including driving daily school routes and providing transportation for field trips, sports trips, charters, and special events. Drivers play a key role in ensuring the safe and timely transportation of students and passengers, all while maintaining a high standard of customer service and professionalism.
Responsibilities:
- Transport students and passengers safely and efficiently on daily school routes, as well as for field trips, sports trips, charters, and special events.
- Ensure the safety and security of all passengers, complying with state and company safety standards.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure the bus is in proper working order.
- Maintain accurate and complete trip documentation, including mileage, routes, and passenger counts.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, supervisors, and school officials regarding schedules, delays, or issues.
- Adhere to traffic laws, state regulations, and company policies at all times.
- Provide excellent customer service to passengers, parents, and school staff.
- Assist passengers as needed, including children, athletes, individuals with disabilities, or those requiring additional support.
Requirements:
- Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements (Required).
- Must pass a DOT physical examination and drug screening.
- Clean driving record with no major violations.
- Minimum age: 21 years old.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks associated with vehicle inspections and passenger assistance.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Reliable and punctual with strong time-management skills.
- Prior experience driving a school bus or commercial vehicle is preferred but not required.
Schedule:
- Regular weekday schedule for assigned school routes.
