SUMMARY
This is a self-directed, detail and deadline-oriented role accountable for ensuring all fabrics have been produced and packaged in a manner that meets or exceeds customers’ specifications. Individuals in this role will interact on a daily basis with other areas of the operation (shipping, customer service, etc.) to efficiently carry out duties.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspects finished fabric to ensure all quality and customer specifications have been met.
- Follows, stays current and applies Barrday quality specifications in daily tasks.
- Packages product according to both internal and external customer specifications.
- Able to operate all equipment related to the inspection process including:
- Crane
- Hoist
- Inspection Table
- Prepares all required documentation (i.e. tickets) in preparation for final packaging.
- Completes and enters data into ERP system including production reporting and NCRs.
- Uses variety of measuring devices to perform testing and take readings as needed.
- Completes variety of calculations to determine if product meets specification.
- Ensures 5S and lean philosophies are practiced and sustained in daily activities.
- Keeps all equipment and work areas clean and well maintained and left in excellent condition for next shift.
- Works in a manner that promotes a safe environment and deals with unsafe issues immediately.
- Other duties as assigned, including cross training within the department and other areas of the plant.
Key Qualifications/Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent GED.
- 2 years’ experience in a manufacturing production environment.
- Previous quality or inspection experience preferred.
- Ability to speak and read instructions competently in English.
- Competent math skills particularly as related to measurement and quantity calculations.
- Dependable, effective team player willing to cross train and take on new duties.
- Excellent attention to detail and safety.
- Must commit to the assigned work schedule and work overtime as required.
- Moving, bending, pushing and lifting capability up to 60 lbs.
- Basic knowledge and comfortable using computers and ERP system to input data.
- Must adhere to safety requirements including the use of personal protective equipment.
- Must meet vision requirements.
Working Conditions:
- Manufacturing setting.
- Continuous periods of standing and walking required.
- Considerable lifting and loading (with assistance of appropriate tools, hoists and machines).
- May include cutting and the use of sharp tools.
- Day Shift 2-2-3 Schedule
