Summary:
Machine Operators are responsible for safely and efficiently operating various production machines to consistently meet quality and output targets. Individuals in this role will work as part of a self-directed team with some supervision. This position will work at our Charlotte, NC facility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the startup, operation, clean up, and shut down, of machines and other equipment and processes in accordance with standard operating procedures and in manner that keeps pace with demand and meets acceptable production and quality targets.
- Stages material through barcoding, labels, and maintains accurate inventories during runs.
- Customizes basic equipment settings following customer and/or product requirements.
- Follows precise test procedures based on specification and customer requirements as outlined in the Barrday control document.
- Operates hoist and pallet jack and maintains daily inspections.
- Basic usage of technology (data entry) to determine material and product specifications and enter production and quality data during and upon completion of production runs.
- Visually inspects product as it runs to ensure fabric produced meets all specifications.
- Identifies and troubleshoots problems with equipment/ devices pulling in support as needed.
- Raises NCRs for non-conforming materials and works with Quality / Engineering to identify and implement resolutions.
- Packages, labels, and places finished products on skids, bands etc. ready for shipping.
- Provides production, progress, or changeover reports to shift supervisors.
- Ensures 5S and lean philosophies are practiced and sustained in daily activities.
- Keep equipment and work areas clean, maintained and in excellent condition for the next shift.
- Works in a manner promoting a safe environment and deals with unsafe issues immediately.
- Other duties as assigned, within the department and other areas of the plant.
Key Qualifications/Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent GED.
- 1 years’ experience in a manufacturing production environment and / or working with manufactures and or machine operations.
- Ability to prioritize and manage time and multiple priorities efficiently.
- Precise manual dexterity is required.
- Basic math skills particularly as related to measurement.
- Excellent attention to detail and safety.
- Must commit to the assigned work schedule and work overtime as requested.
- Moving, bending, pushing, and lifting capability up to 40 lbs.
- Basic knowledge and comfortable using computers and system to input data.
Working Conditions:
- 12-hour 2-2-3 rotation working 7am to 7pm.
- Manufacturing setting (air-conditioned facility)
- Continuous periods of standing and walking
- Lifting and loading (with assistance of appropriate tools and machines)
- This position will train for approximately 8 weeks (depending on how quickly you learn).
