BarrMax Facility Overview
Barrday Corp. has been manufacturing advanced technical fabrics for ballistic armor products in Charlotte since 2001. We are now opening a second facility at a new site in Charlotte to manufacture BarrMax.
BarrMax (formerly Endumax) is a polyethylene tape product with incredible tenacity and stiffness properties, which makes it a natural addition to our product line. Its unique physical and chemical structure makes it – weight for weight – 11 times stronger than steel!
The BarrMax production equipment has been relocated from Europe to our new facility in the Innovation Business Park. This state-of-the-art German manufacturing equipment is in the process of being reassembled and start-up trials will begin this summer with full production expected by the end of the year.
We are looking for exceptional individuals to join us on the ground floor of this new endeavor. You will be part of creating a culture of respect and manufacturing excellence and as production increases, you will be teaching our new employees and could become a future leader in this facility.
The work environment is outstanding: clean, bright, quiet, free of fumes and dust, and air conditioned. The business park has ample parking, two employee fitness centers, regular food trucks, a coffee shop, a convenience store and many more amenities.
A small team of 4-6 talented people will be able to operate the entire factory. You will be working closely with your shift members and the engineering and maintenance team. In the beginning, the work week will be a Monday to Friday day shift schedule, however, as production increases, it will become a rotating shift schedule to provide 24-hour coverage.

Good problem solving and critical thinking skills: Needs to understand what each machine in the process is doing and how it can or will impact the product. Will need to make adjustments to the process using this understanding of the impacts.
Collaboration and team-building skills: Being a team player is essential since all tasks will require close collaboration with co-workers. The goal will be to ensure that production procedures will be carried on smoothly to maximize efficiency and profits. Need to be willing to cooperate and communicate to resolve issues. Need to be available to cover on and off shift handoff and breaks for other team-mates. Need to be willing to actively train new employees.
Flexibility: This role will involve working in all areas of the plant and doing other tasks in addition to the primary job description, like cleaning machines and basic maintenance
Time Management skills: The ideal candidate will take the initiative to do things that need to be done with minimal supervision, including identifying and completing tasks during non-production or down times that may or may not be in their primary job function.
Position Summary
As a member the maintenance team you will perform preventive and reactive maintenance on manufacturing equipment and infrastructure throughout the facility. Your troubleshooting skills will be used daily to resolve machine and product issues. At Barrday, our maintenance personnel work closely with each other, our machine operators and engineers to help diagnose problems and to elevate the knowledge of the machine operators.
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnoses, installs, repairs, tests, and calibrate complex AC and DC electrical systems, such as motor-starting circuits, AC magnetic circuits, pilot device systems, pressure and limit switches, and solenoid valves.
- Perform preventative and routine maintenance on all equipment.
- Assist with training of operators in maintenance tasks.
- Assist operators with machine troubleshooting to correct quality issues and minimize downtime.
- Evaluate trends/patterns on repaired equipment and implement actions that will eliminate repetitive repair work.
- Install new equipment or perform upgrades to existing equipment.
- Source and order parts as needed and assist in management of spare parts area.
- Complete documentation of work performed.
- Set an example of safe work practices in every job performed; LOTO, PPE, elevated work
Key Qualifications and traits:
Required
- Certificate, degree, or apprenticeship in an electrical or electronics trade is required.
- 2 years of experience in industrial electrical maintenance of manufacturing equipment.
- Knowledge and understanding of 480V 3 phase power
- Experience with mechanical power transfer systems, pneumatics and hydraulics
- Competence in reading electrical and mechanical schematics.
- Fork truck operation and rigging experience.
- Must be able to work with limited supervision.
- Excellent time management and the ability to handle multiple priorities
- Clearly communicate verbally and in writing
- Customer service inclination, the entire facility is your customer.
- Detail oriented with a natural preference to see things orderly.
- Computer literate in Microsoft Office (MS Word, Excel and Outlook)
- The ability to see colors is necessary
Preferred
- Familiar with the National Electrical Code NFPA 70
- Working knowledge of NFPA electrical standard for industrial machinery
- PLC programming and troubleshooting basic experience, especially Siemens
- North Carolina electrical license
Working Conditions
- 8-hour Monday-Friday shift schedule with flexibility in work hours.
- Primarily plant floor; some office and computer time.
- Must be able to work in environments that include hot/cold temperatures, wet areas, elevated and confined spaces, and standing/walking much of the day that may including on uneven surfaces.
- Applying physical mobility that includes reaching, lifting, holding, pushing and pulling, carrying, bending, climbing stairs and ladders, kneeling, arm and leg extension.
- Exposure to noise and some chemical products in conditions. All appropriate personal protective equipment will be available.
- Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.
