Summary
Under general supervision of the R&D Project manager and instruction provided by R&D engineers, the job responsibilities are to perform laboratory tasks and assisting in running pilot trials in support of Research and Development projects all the way through commercialization.
Key Responsibilities
- Follow written and verbal instructions from Supervisors and Project Managers.
- Use Lab Equipment and Machine Tools to prepare samples and conduct testing of resins, prepregs and composite materials.
- Review and follow SOP (standard of operation) procedures, assisting in writing SOP and QCP (quality control procedure) as required.
- Use measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, platform balances to perform physical measurements, use thermal analysis tools such as DSC, TGA to perform thermal measurement, use Mechanical tester to measure mechanical performance such as tensile, compression and bending of composite materials.
- Shall keep accurate and accessible records of prototyping, sampling and development. Completes and enters information as required in the ERP system.
- Shall provide assistance to production of new products in a scale up operation including resin manufacturing, product processing and any secondary operations of new or modified products.
- Assist quality assurance on quality testing functions as required.
- Obtaining materials/chemicals for R&D work, housekeeping tasks to keep the lab in good shape etc.
- Other duties as assigned.
Key Qualifications/Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent GED
- 3 year’ experience in laboratory, production or quality environment
- Common sense approach to problem solving issues
- Basic Algebra a must
- Competent and comfortable using computers and ERP system to input and access data
- Attention to detail
- Ability to work as a team
Working Conditions:
- Manufacturing and lab setting with continuous periods of standing and walking required
- Moderate lifting and loading (with assistance of appropriate tools and machines)
- Exposure to noise and chemical products in conditions where all proper protective equipment is available
