What are the responsibilities and job description for the K-8 ELA Instructional Coach position at Barre Unified Union School District?
POSITION GOAL: The K - 8 literacy instructional coach will work with teachers to provide leadership in the delivery of instruction and the coordination, organization, and assessment of curriculum and improvement of instruction in the Barre Unified Union School District.
CORE/PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
-In collaboration with the coordinator, implement coaching cycles based on student data. This includes: direct observation, documentation, pre and post observation meetings with verbal and written feedback to inform continuous improvement.
-Observe content area instruction in classrooms, provide feedback to teachers, and model best practices for teachers.
-Understand and interpret the data gathered from all local and state assessments, and work with teachers to consider instructional
implications for continuous improvement purposes.
-Assist with implementation of new curriculum or programs and methodologies through individual and team coaching.
-Coordinate and facilitate training, with Curriculum Coordinators, to support teachers in implementing curriculum aligned with the
standards approved by the State Board of Education, coordinated across all grades and the supervisory union.
-Clarify instructional expectations and coaching cycles for teachers in response to data review
-Attend coaches meetings with Curriculum Coordinators engaging in reflective process to ensure adherence to the coaching service
delivery plan.
-Do all of the above informed by ongoing review of new research, changing learning opportunities, and updates to the standards
approved by the State Board of Education.
