What are the responsibilities and job description for the Permanent Substitute (full time position/includes benefits package) position at Barre Unified Union School District?
Barre City Elementary and Middle School is seeking a permanent substitute to support our teaching staff for the 2024-2025 school year, working with students in grades PreK - 8. The rate of pay for this position is $18.00 per hour. We also offer a benefits package (Health Insurance, sick time, and personal time). Permanent substitutes are full-time school year employees and report to school every day, which is different from a typical substitute position.POSITION GOAL: To ensure every student is able to pursue their education as seamlessly as possible during the absence of a classroom teacher.
Our goal is to provide an educational environment where the students are the focus and center of attention.CORE/PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties may be assigned) Receives daily placement from the substitute coordinator. Review all plans and schedules to be followed during the teaching day. Maintains established routines and procedures of the school and classroom to which assigned. Teaches the lesson outlined and described in the Substitute Plans as prepared by the absent teacher.
Assumes responsibility for overseeing student behavior during times when under substitute supervision. Completes reports on the day's activities at the conclusion of each teaching day/period/block. Follows policies, rules, and procedures to which regular teachers are subject with good teaching practice. Performs other duties as assigned when not assigned to a classroom.
Other duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: -Assisting in the classroom, library/learning center, or other instructional setting -Supervising students in areas outside of the classroom -Supervising a study hall, in-school suspensions, etc. -Performing basic clerical duties for the schools administrative support staff -Monitoring students in the hallways/lobby and in high traffic and gathering places -Providing one-on-one academic support to students -Substituting in classrooms and covering lunch/work breaks as needed
