What are the responsibilities and job description for the Special Services Permanent Substitute (full time position/includes benefits package) position at Barre Unified Union School District?
The Barre Unified Union School District, Special Services Department is seeking a permanent substitute to support our special services teaching and support staff at Barre City Elementary & Middle School. The hourly rate of pay for this position is $18.00. We also offer a benefits package (Health Insurance, sick time, & personal time). Permanent substitutes are full time school year employees and show up to their assigned school every day, this is different from that of a typical substitute position.
POSITION GOAL: To ensure our students with special needs are able to pursue their education as seamlessly as possible during the absence of their paraeducator, behavioral interventionist or special education teacher. Our goal is to provide an educational environment where the students are the focus and center of attention.
CORE/PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties may be assigned)
• Receives daily placement from the substitute coordinator or administrator.
• Reviews all plans and schedules to be followed during the teaching day.
• Maintains established routines and procedures for the individual student or groups of students to which assigned.
• Provides necessary supports and/ or teaches the lessons outlined and described in the Substitute Plans as prepared by the absent personnel.
• Assumes responsibility for overseeing student behavior.
• Completes reports on the day's activities at the conclusion of each teaching day/period/block.
• Follows policies, rules, and procedures to which regular teachers are subject with good teaching practice
Other duties may include:
-Supervising students in areas outside of the classroom (if applicable).
-Performing basic clerical duties for the schools’ administrative support staff.
-Monitoring students in the hallways/lobby and in high traffic and gathering places.
-Providing one on one academic support to students.
-Substituting in another classroom or covering lunch/work breaks for paraeducators in the building
