The Back of House Assistant plays a critical role in maintaining the smooth operation of the restaurant. This position combines the responsibilities of a busser, food runner, and dishwasher, ensuring that the kitchen, dining area, and service stations are clean, organized, and efficient. Duties
- Clean Dishes & Utensils: Wash all dishes, glassware, pots, pans, and kitchen utensils using commercial dishwashing equipment. Ensure all items are sanitized and returned to the kitchen or dining area in a timely manner.
- Maintain Hygiene Standards: Ensure that the dishwashing station is clean, organized, and adheres to all safety and sanitation guidelines. This includes proper handling of chemicals, maintaining clean sinks, and ensuring the work area is free of food waste and debris.
- Food Delivery: Transport completed orders from the kitchen to the appropriate tables, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail. Confirm that orders match customers’ requests and that presentation is consistent with the restaurant’s standards.
- Assist Servers & Guests: Help servers with food delivery and ensure that customers’ needs are met, including delivering drinks, condiments, or additional items like bread or side dishes.
- Clear Empty Plates: After customers have finished their meals, clear plates and utensils from tables quickly and efficiently, bringing them to the dishwashing area. Ensure the dining room is tidy for the next guests.
- Customer Satisfaction: Check in with customers as you deliver food to ensure they are happy with their meal, and relay any special requests or concerns back to the servers or kitchen staff.
- Clean & Reset Tables: After guests leave, clear used dishes, wipe down tables, and reset them with fresh silverware, glasses, and napkins. Ensure that all tables are ready for the next customers.
- Maintain Cleanliness in Dining Area: Sweep and mop the floor during and after service as needed. Take care of spills, food scraps, or trash in the dining area. Keep restrooms stocked and tidy.
