The Hostesses (or hosts) assist with meeting, greeting, and seating restaurant guests. They also help provide an enjoyable dining experience by ensuring that customers have everything they need. They may manage reservations, set tables, take drink orders, answering the phone and provide menus.

General Summary:
Greeting guests in a welcoming manner, focus on guest services and seating the restaurant in a manner as to not overwhelm the servers. Quickly and efficiently clean the tables to allow for minimum down time for tables to be re-sat.
Essential Functions:
- Ensures tables are being cleaned and set up efficiently, so guests will not wait any longer than necessary for a clean table.
- Welcomes guests as they enter the building.
- Maintains the cleanliness of the dining area.
- Seats guests evenly throughout the restaurant except in the event of guest request.
- Runs the waitlist for guests.
- Makes a conscious effort to foresee any special items a guest may require; assists with accommodation of special guest needs.
- Keeps menus clean and presentable.
- Seats guests at an appropriate table while engaging in casual conversation, taking into account special needs (children, high chairs, and party size). Rotating of new tables for service staff is necessary for an equitable division of the day's work.
- Has extensive menu knowledge. Possesses an awareness and ability to describe all food, drink, and special menu items.
- Responsible for informing guests of any specials and the name of their server while seating guests.
- Teamwork is essential to a smooth operating work environment. Assists servers in maintaining sections throughout the shift.
- Providing all departing guests with a sincere, "Thank you" and invitation to return to Barrel House. Will hold the entry door open whenever possible for departing guests. If a guest relays that an issue was present during their experience, gets a manager immediately.
- Practices teamwork by helping co-workers.
- Performs other duties as assigned by management.
- Adheres to company standards, including personal hygiene and appearance.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Education: Any combination of education and experience equivalent that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Computer Skills:
- Preferred: Point of Sale System
Experience:
- Experience: 1 to 5 years working in a high-volume restaurant.
Physical Requirements:
- Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time.
- Able to multitask and be aware of several tables' progression through the dining experience.
- Be able to reach, bend, stoop, and frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to see within normal parameters
- Ability to hear within normal range
