JOB TITLE: SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGIST
DEPARTMENT: SPECIAL PROGRAMS
REPORTS TO: DIRECTOR OF SPECIAL pROGRAMS/FEDERAL PROGRAMS
SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Responsible for communicating with teachers, principals, and the administrative staff the need for and the administration of diagnostic instruments for purposes of assessing and evaluating special needs of individual students.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS: Must have no convictions of a felony or past criminal history, be in good health as evidenced by completion of a physical examination as prescribed by the Board. Must be of good character and moral behavior; must possess a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree and proper Kentucky certification.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
? Act as a consultant in the development of curricular strategies for meeting individual student needs
? Administer, score, and interpret individual intelligence, projective, and achievement tests
? Identify treatment strategies for children with handicapping conditions
? Consult with special function staff operating within the system (e.g. speech therapists, special education teachers, remedial reading teachers, etc.)
? Identify and participate in curriculum procedures designed for special education students
? Observe the behavior of children in a classroom setting and integrate findings with other data
? Report and communicate findings from test data, observations and conferences to teachers, principals administrators and parents
? Work with the Child Find Coordinator in the identification, placement and evaluation of students who are candidates for special education classes
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
? Will be required to complete all required training and attend in-service sessions.
? Performs assigned tasks in a timely manner.
? Consistently displays self-control with parents, students, and school personnel.
? Maintains a clean workstation (bus, desk, office, etc.) and does maintenance as needed.
? Be clean, neat, and appropriately dressed.
? Be consistently responsible and display an attitude of honesty and credibility.
? Show enthusiasm, interest, and concern for the total program and its efficient operation.
? Maintain student control.
? Operate equipment in a safe manner at all times.
? Demonstrate positive behavior toward the purposes and goals of the Barren County Public Schools.
? Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
1. Work year is comprised of the number of days as designated by board policy.
2. Salary is commensurate with adopted certified personnel salary schedule.
3. Sick leave and personal leave provided as stated in board policy.
