Description:
Our client is a large Agricultural Manufacturing company in Merced that is looking for a CNC Plasma Operator. This person will be responsible for setting up, operating and maintaining CNC plasma cutting machines to cut and shape metal and other materials according to precise specifications.
This role requires technical expertise in CNC machinery, an understanding of cutting processes, and a strong commitment to safety and quality. Perform a variety of duties including grinding, de burring, cleaning of parts, cutting and removal of scrap. Extensive use of overhead cranes to move materials and parts as needed. Accurately complete all paperwork associated with the position. Perform other tasks as assigned in support of fabrication operations. Our CNC Plasma Table Operators are competent and work independently.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Machine Operation: Set up and operate CNC plasma cutting machines to cut metal and other materials according to design specifications. Load and unload materials onto the cutting table, ensuring proper alignment and securing workpieces.
2. Programming and Setup: Interpret and work from technical drawings, blueprints, and CAD files. Program the CNC machine using G-code or other programming languages as required. Adjust machine settings, including speed, feed rate, and cutting parameters, to optimize performance and quality.
3. Quality Control: Inspect finished products to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications. Use precision measuring tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers) to verify dimensions and tolerances. Identify and address any defects or discrepancies in the cutting process.
4. Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of CNC plasma cutting machines to ensure optimal performance. Troubleshoot and resolve minor mechanical issues and report major malfunctions to maintenance personnel.
5. Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment. Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, gloves, and protective clothing. Maintain a clean and organized work area to prevent accidents and injuries.
6. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of production activities, including machine settings, material usage, and production output. Completenecessary paperwork and input data into the company's manufacturing software or systems.
7. Collaboration: Work closely with other machine operators, supervisors, and engineering staff to ensure efficient workflow and address any production issues. Communicate effectively with team members to coordinate tasks and share information.
8. Continuous Improvement: Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, efficiency, and quality. Stay updated with industry trends, new technologies, and best practices in CNC machining.
