Description:

Our client is a large Agricultural Manufacturing company in Merced that is looking for a CNC Plasma Operator. This person will be responsible for setting up, operating and maintaining CNC plasma cutting machines to cut and shape metal and other materials according to precise specifications.

This role requires technical expertise in CNC machinery, an understanding of cutting processes, and a strong commitment to safety and quality. Perform a variety of duties including grinding, de burring, cleaning of parts, cutting and removal of scrap. Extensive use of overhead cranes to move materials and parts as needed. Accurately complete all paperwork associated with the position. Perform other tasks as assigned in support of fabrication operations. Our CNC Plasma Table Operators are competent and work independently.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Machine Operation: Set up and operate CNC plasma cutting machines to cut metal and other materials according to design specifications. Load and unload materials onto the cutting table, ensuring proper alignment and securing workpieces.

2. Programming and Setup: Interpret and work from technical drawings, blueprints, and CAD files. Program the CNC machine using G-code or other programming languages as required. Adjust machine settings, including speed, feed rate, and cutting parameters, to optimize performance and quality.

3. Quality Control: Inspect finished products to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications. Use precision measuring tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers) to verify dimensions and tolerances. Identify and address any defects or discrepancies in the cutting process.

4. Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of CNC plasma cutting machines to ensure optimal performance. Troubleshoot and resolve minor mechanical issues and report major malfunctions to maintenance personnel.

5. Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment. Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, gloves, and protective clothing. Maintain a clean and organized work area to prevent accidents and injuries.

6. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of production activities, including machine settings, material usage, and production output. Completenecessary paperwork and input data into the company's manufacturing software or systems.

7. Collaboration: Work closely with other machine operators, supervisors, and engineering staff to ensure efficient workflow and address any production issues. Communicate effectively with team members to coordinate tasks and share information.

8. Continuous Improvement: Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, efficiency, and quality. Stay updated with industry trends, new technologies, and best practices in CNC machining.

1. CNC Machine Operation: In-depth understanding of CNC plasma cutting machines and their components. Knowledge of CNC programming languages, such as G-code, and the ability to input and adjust programs.

2. Technical Drawings and Blueprints: Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and CAD files. Understanding of geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).

3. Material Properties: Knowledge of various materials used in CNC plasma cutting, including metals like steel, aluminum, and stainless steel. Understanding of material behaviors under different cutting conditions.

4. Cutting Techniques: Familiarity with different cutting techniques and parameters, such as feed rate, cutting speed, and plasma settings. Knowledge of the effects of different cutting techniques on material quality and finish.

5. Safety Standards: Comprehensive knowledge of safety protocols and OSHA regulations related to CNC plasma cutting operations. Understanding of the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

6. Quality Control: Knowledge of quality control processes and standards to ensure finished products meet specifications. Familiarity with inspection tools and techniques for verifying product dimensions and tolerances.

7. Technical Skills: Proficiency in setting up and operating CNC plasma cutting machines. Ability to program CNC machines using G-code or similar programming languages. Skilled in using CAD/CAM software for designing and modifying parts.

8. Mechanical Aptitude: Basic mechanical skills for performing routine maintenance and troubleshooting minor issues with CNC machines. Understanding of machine tool functions and the ability to make necessary adjustments.

9. Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail to ensure precision and accuracy in cutting operations. Ability to perform detailed inspections and quality checks on finished products.

10. Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to machine performance, cutting quality, and programming errors. Proficiency in identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency and quality.

11. Physical Stamina: Good physical condition to handle the demands of standing for extended periods and performing tasks that require physical strength and stamina. Capability to lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds.

Pay Rate: $18 to $ 30 per hour (DOE).
