We're currently seeking a hands-on, experienced General Manager to lead and elevate our San Francisco team.
Position Overview
The General Manager (GM) will oversee all aspects of our San Francisco operations, ensuring smooth day-to-day functioning while driving growth and efficiency. This is a highly visible leadership role suited for someone who is both strategic and operational—able to manage teams, handle customers, and jump into the field when necessary. You'll supervise a team of ~15, manage project workflows, assist with estimates, and ensure exceptional service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Team Leadership & Oversight
- Supervise a team of ~15 employees: 2 estimators, 3 office staff, and 4–5 service vehicles
- Foster a collaborative, accountable, and customer-focused office culture
- Work closely with support from two experienced GMs from nearby branches
- Operations & Project Management
- Oversee daily service calls, repairs, installations, and estimate scheduling (approx. 20 tasks/day)
- Help with estimates and site assessments; occasionally work in the field
- Monitor and manage inventory; order materials as needed
- Ensure accurate and timely job costing, invoicing, and use of service management software (e.g., Job Files, Service Titan, etc. )
- Customer & Vendor Relations
- Navigate the unique challenges of the San Francisco market and clientele
- Manage vendor relationships, supply chains, and customer service issues
- Support business development and uphold company reputation for quality and reliability
- Financial & Strategic Leadership
- Review and interpret financial statements
- Maintain profitability through proper margin calculations and efficient scheduling
- Participate in budgeting, forecasting, and long-term planning
- HR & Compliance
- Handle local HR tasks including hiring, scheduling, and performance management
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and city-specific job requirements
- Champion a professional, respectful, and growth-oriented workplace
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of field experience in commercial doors, automatic gates, or related industry
- 3–5 years of estimating experience with strong technical knowledge of door/gate/dock systems
- Prior General Manager or senior operational leadership experience required
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency with service management and CRM tools such as Job Files, Service Titan, etc.
- Hands-on, proactive approach with a high level of accountability and initiative
- Experience managing and motivating teams in fast-paced, service-driven environments
- Understanding of inventory control, project workflows, and customer service in a high-demand urban market like San Francisco
