Job Title: Warming Shelter Assistant
Job Summary: Assist in overseeing the daily activities of shelter guests, ensuring their safety and security. Present and explain conduct guidelines, shelter contracts, and prohibited materials to guests, both verbally and in writing.
Key Responsibilities:
Screen guests for prohibited items and kenneling needs upon entry; provide storage bags and document belongings.
Assist with cleaning, site upkeep, kitchen duties, laundry, meal preparation and distribution, showers, restrooms, and supportive services.
Facilitate and monitor guest access to laundry, showers, restrooms, and smoking breaks.
Ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for shelter guests and staff.
Staff the reception area, engage with guests, answer phones, distribute hygiene items, and monitor facility safety.
Inventory and maintain supplies, including kitchen and cleaning supplies (e.g., bleach, gloves, masks).
Ensure compliance with shelter facility rules and regulations.
Conduct searches and security checks of guests and the facility, documenting findings as per guidelines.
Report any issues or problems encountered with residents.
Qualifications:
Experience in intake procedures
Strong communication skills
Ability to handle crisis
Understanding of security protocols
Conflict management skills
Behavioral health knowledge
Hours: Fulltime-Part time
Wages: $19.47-20.65
