The Position
The Transportation Operations Supervisor, reporting to the Director of Transportation, is responsible for overseeing the efficient and timely movement of goods, coordinating drivers, carriers, and other logistics staff to ensure smooth operations, adherence to regulations, and optimized delivery routes and schedules. The Supervisor will provide ongoing analysis of current transportation and operations practices to determine process and cost improvement opportunities.
This position will work 8:00am- 5:00pm, Monday- Friday.

Your Day-to-Day
- Oversee the daily operational activities of Barrett Logistics Coordinators, specifically for clients utilizing Barrett PPD (prepaid) transportation services.
- Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining SOPs for the Transportation Division that instill efficient and effective operations and lead to high client satisfaction.
- Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate operational and organizational risks; escalate key risks and issues to Director.
- Collaborate with the Director to develop reports and KPIs for the department.
- Identify root cause of operational activity Nonconformance Reports and implement Corrective Actions Report as needed for assigned client, area, and/or shift.
- Ensure all required documentation and system transactions (electronically and/or manually) for assigned area(s)/account(s) are completed in a timely manner.
- Establish and maintain credible, professional relationships with clients, internal stakeholders, and external vendors.
- Partner with the customer to maintain a high level of customer satisfaction by communicating frequently with customers and following up on customer concerns and requests.
- Analyze Vendor Performance and identify areas of improvement (cost/vendor-performance/client experience)
- Analyze Client Business Behaviors and identify areas of process improvement (cost/vendor-performance/client experience) and/or increased profitability.
- Liaise with DC operations around the country to ensure proper process flow and information exchange between DC operations and Logistics Coordinators
- Provide supervision and direction to the Logistics Coordinator team as it relates to the day-to-day workflow.
- Make recommendations for changes in staffing as necessary to meet demands of workload; interviews applicants and makes recommendations for hire; assess training needs, counsels’ employees & recommend corrective and/or disciplinary action when appropriate; & document employee performance.
- Responsible for ensuring logistics coordinators are properly trained on all standard operating procedures and policies
- Coach and reinforce the need for quick and concise responses to client/internal requests to direct reports
- Actively leads meetings and effectively communicates daily/weekly/annual department goals and company-wide information.
- Maintain thorough knowledge of industry trends and technology.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma required; Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred. May substitute 8 years of directly related experience in lieu of degrees.
- 3-5 years’ experience in transportation/logistics, supply chain or related field.
- Previous supervisory experience preferred
- Experience must demonstrate a strong working knowledge of transportation/logistics operations and policies and procedures.
- Transportation Management System (TMS) experience preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft business applications such as Excel, Outlook, and Word.
- Experience must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines and the ability to balance competing priorities in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently.
- Proven experience engaging clients through professional investigative techniques to understand the client’s needs, discover new opportunities and overcome challenges.
