K-12 Physical Education Teacher
Location: The Barrett School, Destin, Florida

Position Overview: The K-12 Physical Education Teacher will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive physical education program that encourages students to engage in physical activity, develop motor skills, and promote healthy lifestyle choices. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to student development, a collaborative spirit, and the ability to create an engaging and supportive learning environment for students of all ages.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and deliver age-appropriate physical education lessons that align with state and national standards.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel valued and motivated.
- Develop and implement assessment tools to evaluate student progress and provide constructive feedback.
- Collaborate with colleagues to integrate physical education with other academic subjects and school-wide initiatives.
- Organize and supervise extracurricular sports and physical activities, including school events and field days.
- Maintain effective communication with parents and guardians regarding student progress and activities.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices and advancements in physical education.
- Ensure the safety and maintenance of physical education equipment and facilities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, Exercise Science, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Valid state teaching certification in Physical Education (K-12).
- Experience teaching physical education in a K-12 setting preferred.
- Strong knowledge of physical education standards, curriculum development, and assessment practices.
- Ability to engage and motivate students of diverse backgrounds and skill levels.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
