Driver
The Driver is responsible for transporting materials between company warehouses and local sites within a 100-mile radius of Christiana, TN. This role is essential in ensuring that materials, parts, and finished goods move safely and efficiently between facilities, supporting production and supply chain needs. Additionally, the Driver will perform all functions of the Inventory Control Specialist position and Shipping/Receiving Specialist as needed. The Driver must be detail-oriented, punctual, and adhere to all safety and compliance regulations, particularly those required for government-contracted defense materials.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Material Transportation
- Safely operate a box truck to transport materials, components, and finished goods between warehouses and local sites within the designated radius.
- Ensure all items are properly loaded, secured, and protected for transport to prevent damage and comply with safety standards, and delivered on time.
Compliance and Documentation
- Adhere to all government, DOT, and company regulations and policies regarding the transport of materials, including safety standards for government-contracted defense materials.
- Complete and maintain accurate records of all deliveries, pickups, mileage, and materials transported.
- Perform and document pre- and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety, reporting any maintenance or repair needs promptly.
Vehicle Maintenance and Safety
- Conduct routine checks on the box truck, including brakes, tires, lights, and other essential systems, to maintain a high standard of safety.
- Report any vehicle issues to the Supply Chain Operations Manager and ensure timely maintenance or repairs are conducted as required.
Communication and Coordination
- Coordinate closely with inventory, shipping, and purchasing staff to ensure accurate material pickup and delivery.
- Communicate any delays, issues, or changes to delivery schedules to the Supply Chain Operations Manager and other relevant staff in a timely manner.
- Represent the company professionally in all interactions, demonstrating a commitment to reliability, punctuality, and customer service.
Inventory Control Specialist
- Enter and update information accurately into computer ERP system and use handheld scanner to maintain records relating to inventory. Maintain accurate inventory counts for all locations including off-site warehouses and storage areas. Ensure counts are accurate for all items being received or moved to inventory by verifying the correct quantity and item number.
- Accurately pull material to complete / fulfill orders in a timely manner, keeping enough material staged in all work areas.
- Complete bin location changes in the system and transfer items between main plant and off-site warehouses when needed, making sure to verify the item and quantity is correct.
- Support Packing, Production, and Assembly by ensuring all areas have enough material pulled (including coverage for weekend and night shifts) and received items are put away.
Shipping/Receiving Specialist Functions
- Perform electronic transactions within Barrett MRP system. Packages and ships products and outbound freight.
- Receives parts and supplies from outside vendors/suppliers.
- Ensures accuracy of received material versus Purchase Order and for audits.
- Prepare bills of lading for outbound freight; ensure that drivers depart with appropriate paperwork.
Qualifications Requirements
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; CDL not required but is a plus.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in driving a box truck or similar vehicle preferred.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations and best practices for safe driving.
- Strong attention to detail, with the ability to complete required paperwork accurately and thoroughly.
- Ensure that all parts are protected against corrosion and kept in good quality condition, by using prescribed methods of prevention.
- Accurately pull material to complete / fulfill orders in a timely manner, keeping enough material staged in all work areas.
