Our people division is growing, and we are looking for an Open Pit Drill and Blast Frontline Supervisor at our Carlin operations. The successful candidate will partner with the Mine Operations Teams to ensure drilling and blasting programs are executed according to the mine plan and in compliance with all Nevada Gold Mines Safety and Health, Contractor Management and Environmental policies and applicable regulatory agency guidelines.

Nevada Gold Mines (NGM) is a joint venture between Barrick (61.5%) and Newmont (38.5%) that combined our significant assets across Nevada in 2019 to create the single largest gold-producing complex in the world. NGM produces approximately 3.5 million ounces of gold a year. The massive mining operation comprises eight mines along with their associated infrastructure and processing facilities and hosts three of Barrick’s Tier One assets: Carlin, Cortez, and Turquoise Ridge. Responsibilities
- Review project scopes of work for the drill and blasting group.
- Provide technical advice on drilling and blasting techniques.
- Ensure drill patterns are constructed within design parameters and ready for blast hole drilling.
- Collaborate with Mine Operations, Geotechnical, Lab, and Engineering Teams.
- Ensure all blast patterns are complete and ready for the blasting crew.
- Inspect equipment and laydown areas.
- Manage inventory of consumables.
- Participate in safety meetings
- Lead incident investigations.
- Conduct visible felt leadership interactions with drillers and blasters “in the field” (minimum of 60% of working time).
- Conduct daily blasting and drilling lineouts including monthly safety meetings.
- Five (5) years of experience preferred with blast hole drilling and technical blasting.
- Understands fundamentals of technical blasting (electronic timing, nonel timing, and point of initiation according to geological structures.
- Strong commitment to achieving zero accidents and citations
- Good communication skills and problem-solving skills
- Computer software MS Office, Autocad, Excel, and SHOTPlus required.
- Demonstrate a leadership in safety, health, environment, and quality.
