Our people division is growing, and we are looking for a Tech 4 Powderman to join our Goldstrike Open Pit Operations team!
As part of the Open Pit Operations team, the successful candidate will ensure drill area is properly cleaned before drilling and maintain an awareness of what is happening in work area - other traffic, machinery and plant, individuals

Reporting to the Open Pit Drill & Blast Supervisor, the Open Pit Powderman is responsible for the following:

Nevada Gold Mines (NGM) is a joint venture between Barrick (61.5%) and Newmont (38.5%) that combined our significant assets across Nevada in 2019 to create the single largest gold-producing complex in the world. NGM produces approximately 3.5 million ounces of gold a year. Responsibilities
Reporting to the Open Pit Drill & Blast Supervisor, the Open Pit Powderman is responsible for the following:
- Ensure drill area is properly cleaned before drilling and maintain an awareness of what is happening in work area - other traffic, machinery and plant, individuals
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Demonstrates competency on how to properly fill out a shot report and supplies used.
- Perform proper blast hole loading, priming, taping and stemming according to field conditions and blast design.
- Comply with state and federal safety and environmental regulations and Nevada Gold Mines policies and procedures.
- Proficiently operates and identify skid steer (including loading and unloading), bobcat, transport vehicles, drill water truck and track drill.
- Ability to use and understanding of Non-EL and Electronic Detonation systems.
- Maintains Possessors Questionnaire on file.
- Understands SOPS, CFR and BATFE regulations.
- Ability to operate around blast patterns.
- Knowledge of traffic rules and patterns.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality are essential to meet job performance standards.
- Ability to be trained and a strong willingness to learn
- The above duties and responsibilities are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all-inclusive.
- Perform all Powderman Tech 3 duties.
- Other duties as directed to ensure optimal safe operation.
