Qualifications :
High School Diploma; college-level coursework in education or related field
Demonstrated ability to assist with instructional activities and to communicate effectively with students, parents and school staff.
Knowledge of diverse needs of children with disabilities and appropriate special education classroom practices.
Required criminal history check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident status.
Performance Responsibilities :
Assists the classroom teacher in the delivery of an effective instructional program.
Works with individualized students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of materials or skills introduced by the teacher.
Guides independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work assigned by the teacher.
Reads to students, listens to student read, and participates in other forms of oral communication with students.
Assists the teacher in maintaining neat work and study areas.
Assists, under a teacher direction, in the collection and administration of behavior management systems and procedures.
Maintains confidentiality of student records.
Performs other appropriate duties as assigned by the special education teacher / teacher or building principal directly related to a good learning experience for students.
