What are the responsibilities and job description for the House Managers position at Barrington Stage Company?
Barrington Stage Company seeks two HOUSE MANAGERS to join the team. Two leaders are needed to serve as House Managers to ensure that our guests,staff, and volunteers have a remarkable experience at our performances and working in our spaces. This professional will execute dynamic customer service to our guests, managing seating, accessibility, overflow, and volunteer usher training for performances at the Boyd Quinson or the St Germain Theatre.
A successful candidate will be a self-starter with a knack for engaging with all types of people. They will have exemplary preparation & organization skills, be able to problem solve a challenge before it arises, adjust and maneuver any challenges with ease, having experience in ticketing and CRM platforms is a plus, and be able to coordinate multiple moving parts under pressure.
These two House Managers are seasonal full-time, salaried positions. Housing available for the right candidate. The schedule will include nights and weekends throughout the summer season, as well as some office hours, scheduling, meetings, and preparatory hours prior to performances as requested.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist guests with seating, accessibility seating, functionality inside our performance spaces throughout the summer season.
- Volunteer usher management and inventory management will be split between these two positions, each one focusing on one of the above for the organization.
- Manage and facilitate bank deposits, employee and volunteer training as needed, inventory management and cash reconciliation on a daily and weekly basis.
- Collaborate with the Box Office Manager and Assistant Box Office Manager to achieve specific details around daily attendance and house manifests as needed.
- Support the Director of Guest Services & Sales’ projections as requested.
- Support the Box Office Manager as an additional point of contact and leadership among staff
- Other duties as assigned.
START DATE & PAY RATE:
- $800-$900 per week, commensurate with experience
- Start Date: May 19, 2025
- End Date: End of August to middle of September depending on assignment
EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
- College degree or equivalent experience
- 2 years experience in ticketing, house management, and/or event planning
- Previous experience in house management preferred
- Background in a theatre environment preferred
- Previous experience in inventory management or finance suggested.
- A collaboratively driven team player with a “can do” attitude and positive spirit
- Strong verbal communication skills and attention to detail
- Ability to lift, carry, or pull up to 25 lbs.
