Barrington Stage Company, an award-winning professional theatre company located in the heart of the Berkshires, is seeking two Stitchers to join our team in Pittsfield, MA for our 2025 season. This position assists in the construction and maintenance of costumes for productions on our Boyd-Quinson Stage, and St Germain Stage. This position requires a skilled artisan with a working knowledge of stitching techniques, the willingness to work as part of a team, and the ability to follow through on individual projects.

Responsibilities:
- Assist in the construction and repair of costumes for all of BSC’s 2025 season’s productions and events, under the guidance of the Costume Shop Manager, Lead Draper and First Hand
- Hand or machine-sew costumes as assigned by supervisors
- Effectively manage time to ensure all sewing projects are completed on schedule and to the highest quality
- Use and maintain costume shop tools and equipment appropriately
- Keep work station clean and assist in keeping the costume shop and storage areas clean
- Assist with the organization and restocking of costumes and materials as needed.
- Assist in maintaining and updating Costume stock and inventory
Skills:
- Working knowledge of costume construction techniques and materials
- Ability to skillfully operate a variety of sewing machines, including single needle industrial, industrial zig zag, overlock, merrow or serger, domestic straight and domestic zig zag machines
- Ability to operate industrial steam irons and steamers
- Ability to manage time effectively
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Able to sit for long periods of time
This position reports to the Costumes Shop Supervisor, Associate Costume Shop Supervisor, and Lead Draper. It is a full-time, seasonal position.
Contract A: 4/21/2025 through 9/21/2025
Contract B: 5/5/2025 through 6/29/2025
Pay is $746.15 per week, non-exempt, with housing included.
