What are the responsibilities and job description for the Host position at Barrio Costero?
Now Hiring: Hosts with the Most (Personality, That Is)
610 Bangs Ave, Asbury Park, NJ
You know that friend who always knows where to sit, keeps the vibes flowing, and somehow remembers everyone’s name, birthday, AND go-to drink order? Yeah, we’re looking for that person. If that’s you—hi. Let’s talk.
Barrio Costero is on the hunt for hosts who know how to make a damn good first impression. Think of yourself as our front door DJ: setting the tone, keeping the flow smooth, and making guests feel like they just walked into their fave tropical escape. Only this time, it’s in Asbury Park.
What the Job Actually Is:
- Greeting every guest like they’re stepping into a beachside bungalow, not a reservation spreadsheet
- Managing the host stand like a boss—reservations, walk-ins, large parties, all the organized chaos
- Reading the room, adjusting the energy, and knowing when to seat the loud table away from the couple on date night
- Chatting with guests, answering questions, and dropping little nuggets of knowledge about the Barrio experience (yes, the menu is that good)
Who You Are:
- A people-person who genuinely enjoys making others feel seen, heard, and hyped
- Calm under pressure (you don’t freak out when the lobby’s full and Karen’s early for her res)
- Organized but not robotic—you can juggle the details and crack a joke
- Down to learn about Mexican food, traditions, and why we care so much about the little things
What You’re Walking Into:
- A vibrant, team-first restaurant that feels more like a beach house with killer food
- A place where we respect culture, celebrate Mexico, and educate our guests (without being boring about it)
- A team that works hard, laughs harder, and probably knows your dog’s name
Why You’ll Love It:
- You’re the face of the party—own that
- Flexible schedule, supportive team, and a workplace that actually feels good to walk into
- You’ll leave every shift knowing something new—about food, drink, or someone’s wild vacation story
- We’re not just filling tables—we’re building a community
About Barrio & Culture Collective:
We’re not trying to be Cancun. We’re not trying to be your neighborhood Tex-Mex joint. We’re Barrio Costero—a love letter to the coastal regions of Mexico, powered by passion, tradition, and a little tequila-fueled sarcasm. As part of Culture Collective, we believe hospitality is about human connection, not just pretty plates (though we have those too).
Sound like your kind of scene?
